Does your dog have solid recall?

If you are like me, you have struggled teaching your dog a solid recall. We are not alone; I know so many dog owners that struggle with this. Especially when there are so many distractors in the outside world.

When I first got my dog Zhani, I had no idea how to teach recall, she was interested in everything but me. Zhani would chase birds, she would run to the kids at the park or even just completely ignore me. Everything and everyone seemed to be more interesting than me. And that is the key, we have to be interesting and engaging with our dogs.

A turning point for us was the introduction of trick dog training (shout out to @divine_canine_training) and whilst I didn’t realise it at the time, it helped us build a much stronger bond as it is an activity that we both love doing together. Since then, we've gone from no to minimal engagement to significantly improving Zhani’s recall.
